Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the Power Pack Program (P3)/What are we packing?

P3 provides elementary school students with a pack of food they can bring home and eat over the weekend. Several children in our area have little or almost nothing to eat between their Friday lunch and Monday breakfast meals provided at or through their schools. These ‘power packs’ help to alleviate hunger for local children in need and enables them to focus on their school work.

How Should I Shop/What Should I Buy?

10-12 count boxes or 20 individual items recommended for all categories. Bulk/repetitive items and store-brand/generic items are ok. Squeezable applesauce packs (no cups w/foil lids) are also acceptable. All food items should have labels or cooking instructions intact. Please, no homemade items or cooked food (remember, shelf-stable items only) and no items more than 3 years expired.

What Should I do the Day of the Event?
1. After securing enough items to make ten (10) Power Packs (each pack includes: 2 items for breakfast, 2 items for lunch, and 2 items for dinner, plus 2 snacks and 2 drinks), log on and join us for a fun virtual packing party! See suggested shopping list.

2. On Monday, January 18th at 10am, log on to the link listed above. We’ll assemble the power packs together, hear from members of the community, learn more from representatives of this phenomenal program, and enjoy live entertainment!

3. Our virtual program will conclude at 11am. Be sure to finish up your packs and double check for any missing items. Later from 2-3:30pm, please drive thru our contactless Dropzone at: Thomas Jefferson Elementary School - 601 S Oak St, Falls Church, VA 22046. Look for the Pink & Green balloons! Mask required.
